Renol® Masterbatch
Renol® is a “drop-in” masterbatch designed for use in standard plastic processing methods. Renol® is made from lignin, a second-generation polymer derived from biomass byproducts. It offers a unique opportunity to replace fossil-based materials in standard plastics without compromising performance, such as:
- PE
- PP
- ABS
- Elastomers
Incorporating Renol® into polymer formulations can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 60% and replace up to 40% of conventional plastics in targeted applications.

Lignin
Lignin is a natural organic substance found in the cell walls of plants, especially in wood and stems. Lignin is a biopolymer—that is, a substance derived from biomass and composed of macromolecules—that enables plants to grow in width and provides the rigidity that allows them to stand upright. Lignin is primarily found in the intercellular structures of trees, plants, and other organisms, and provides cohesion to woody materials. It gives them increased mechanical strength. Lignin accounts for approximately 25% of the weight of dry wood.
Lignin is a natural byproduct of paper manufacturing processes, which utilize only the cellulose contained in wood. During this process, lignin is separated from cellulose, thus becoming a second-generation biomass byproduct. Typically, this lignin is burned or landfilled, but LIGNIN INDUSTRIES recycles it.
